I have a question about Setting up Dial-Up Networking:

I was using a 3com lan modem on my system. It allowed me to use four computers on AOL6 with win98 second ed. The modem was cooked by a near miss with lighting, I am now using a US robotics external modem, when I try to manually set up dial up networking using my screen name and password I get error 691, " the computer you are dialing into cannot connect to dial up net working check your password AOL6 has no suggestions Do You ? ? ? ? ?

modem .inf files may be incorrect or incomplete. OR, sometimes factory default gives a "Connect" of port speed in lieu of carrier speed. You might try typing "modems" in search and check it out. drake
