Question about 'How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?'

I have a question about How
do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?:
The "Disappear" utility worked as stated. Unfortunately, it forces the icon text
to be black. My desktop background picture is dark enough that I can't make out
the text.
I tried changing the icon text color in the Display Properties, Appearance tab, Item:
Icon, but the color option is not available. I tried indirectly to change it by
setting the Item: Desktop to black. This did make the text white, but unfortunately
it overrides the "Disappear" utility. Disappear only seems to work by forcing the
background to white, and consequently the text to black.
Is there any way to force the icon text to white (or other color) while making the
background transparent?

There are a lot of utilities around to make the icon text background transparent
but for me I like Wallpaper Changer
which in addition to changing the background it also will make the text background
transparent and will set the text color to a color that will show up or allow you
to set the color that you want. It will even hide your icons if you want.

You can use this program:
http://www.tribeftw.com/downloads/TransparentIcons.exe
You can pass in as a command line switch any of these colors:
Red
Green
Blue
Black
White
Magenta
Cyan
Yellow
Or you can pass in the value of any color you can find.
For example: Red = &hff
so it would be "TransparentIcons.exe &hff"

There is a neat little utility called TransText that allows you to specify the colours
of icon background and icon text. It requires no special DLL's and is only 32k. It
sits in the Startup folder and remembers the last settings. - Set and forget.

just use transtext. Its free, uses less than 1% of a 500MHz cpu resources and you
can change the background color or make it transparent and you can choose any color
for the font!

There is or was a small freeware program "transtext" that allowed you to match the
background colour and also to choose the text colour. I had used on my old system
running Win98.

making icon text background can be done through registry hacking. just ask wallpaper
changer to make it transparent now import the registry. now ask it to set it opaque
and once again export registry to another file FC these two files and do the combinations
and tell me the result :-)

Didn't work. I tried it. It says the two files are the same.
