Question about 'Resolving Hardware Conflicts'

I have a question about Resolving
Hardware Conflicts:
I have a bootup problem that I believe is due to a video card I installed. I either
get a black or scrambled screen. I hit Ctrl,Alt, Delete 4 to 10 times and it boots
correctly and there are no problems...only when I start the PC. If I start the PC
fairly quickly after shutting down it boots fine. I have disabled the cirrus logic
video that came with the PC. I heard that the video card should be in a certain PCI
slot...first, last....I don't really know. Could this be the problem? I have updated
drivers installed. I know that it is sharing the same IRQ (10) with other hardware
but I was told that this was not a conflict...maybe someone else knows better. Is
there another IRQ someone would recommend?
Thanks

Boot into safe mode and remove the Cirrus Logic card from the display area of device
manager, it may still be there. Then you have to check Win.ini, Autoexec.bat and
config.sys and make sure the drivers for the Cirrus Logic card are not trying to
load. Finally, while in Safe Mode, set your display to the standard PCI video setting.
after all this is done, then make sure you have the newest drivers for your new video
card, the ones that came with it are probably out of date, and install the newest
drivers.

Thanks for the advice but I had already checked that. I do have a yellow exclamation
mark on the cirrus logic but everytime I REMOVE...Windows just reinstalls it as New
Hardware at Startup. Is there a way to prevent this from happening?

With built in video on your motherboard you will likely have to disable it on
the motherboard (a jumper) or in the BIOS. If you don't have a manual for your mobo
you'll have to search for one online. Once disabled you should be able to permanently
remove it from the device manager if it doesn't disappear on it's own.
