Question about 'Do I still need CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT?'

I have a question about Do
I still need CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT?:
Well, I have an older compaq computer with a 32X CDROM. It just so happens that
the drivers are not located in windows(95/98/ME/Windows2000). Thus, if I remove
the config.sys and the autoexec.bat, the CDROM becomes a ghost! Compaq does not support
any drivers other then the one I was able to locate for DOS. With the driver defined
in the config.sys and autoexec.bat files, win-95 and win-98 will see the CDROM.
Since ME and Windows2000 do not use the files I have not been able to update this
(Still very functional) processor, since multiple boots are required on installation,
and windows drivers do not exist.

it's a kwbot virus from kazaa. you'll need to run regedit and delete the moo.txt
files from your computer. there are also files that are recreated on the kazaa my
shared folder that needs to be deleted. they are approximately 19kb. delete em all

moo.reg is a virus that comes with certain shareware versions of Kazza. Follow instructions
below to
eradicate -
Whats moo.reg -
moo.reg is a file the C based program mentioned above creates that will start up
when u retsrat etc.. and holds some important but realy unnescicary stuff. It is
unnessisary because it is alredy written to the disk correctly.
How to get rid of it
THIS MAY BE EASYER IN SAFE MODE TO DO THIS RESTART AND PRESS F8 RAPIDLY AND SLECT
SAFE MODE YOU CANNOT ACESS THE INTERNET IN SAFE MODE SO PRINT THIS OUT BEFORE.
1. You'll probaly know the file that it comes from so go to C:\Program Files\KaZaA\My
SHared Folder and back up all the files u want but not the infecded 1. (C:\Program
Files\KaZaA is the defalt folder for kazaa u may have installed it else where)
2.Uninstall KaZaA
3.now restart
4.if that didnt work then try and click this link (don't bother link broken) and
download KaZaA light it is a program without the adware and stuff download norton
anti virus if you dont have a cd and then install it when its done restart and it
should find an virus thats the moo.reg one follow the on screen instructions and
poof its gone!
Good Luck!

I don't know what causes this error message but I am running ME and one day out of
nowhere I got it and it comes up every time now. I am searching the web for references.
I will get back to you if I find anything.

Can you send me attached the config.sys and autoexec.bat? I have a Compaq Presario
and I can't reinstall Win 98 because those files are missing!
Thank you very much for your prompt answer.
Best regards,
Mihai
