Comment about 'Customize the Start Menu Button'

I have a comment about Customize
the Start Menu Button:
That technique is alright, but I found a better program:

It's called StartButton, it lets you change the text(I changed mine to 'Stop') the
tooltip(mine is 'Click here to end.') and the icon(mine is a picture of Bill Gates'
head exploding :)). The only drawback is that icons done by this program only accept
16x16 images, while Windows supports many more, but it's 100 million times better
than edititng with hex!

Indeed, there are better ways of changing these kind of things than with a hex editor.
you can easily edit the resources of those files with a resource editor. i personally
use microsoft visual C++. open vc++, choose open file, select file you want to edit
(i.e. explorer.exe), and choose to open it as: 'Resources'. (don't forget to back
up the file first). now you can edit the resources as much as you want. the text
'Start' for example can be found in the 'String Table' resource. edit it, save the
file, and voila, you're all set...

The file explorer.exe is always running while windows is running. It is part of the
OS. Which also means, the file is in use/locked.... Heres what you can do...:
SaveAs the file to another location...e.g A:\explorer.exe
If you can't SaveAs, copy the file explorer.exe to another location first and then
edit the file there...
After you have doen your stuff, restart your computer in MS-DOS mode. Then, copy
your edited file to the place where you found the explorer.exe...(original). Remember
to backup first in case you did something wrong to the explorer.exe file. Then, after
you've finished, enter exit. Your windows will now load. If everything is OK, you
will see the changes you have made provided the windows still starts properly...HAHAHA..
Thats it! Use your knowledge of DOS commands dude! Good Luck!
