I have a question about What to do about error messages during Windows startup:

Hi, I'm frequently getting a (blue screen) error message on boot up informing me that a vxd was unable to load due ti insufficient resources and that I should increase minsp's in win.ini Trouble is, I can't find the setting. I'm assuming these are stack pages. Could anyone tell me where to change the setting and advise on any harmful consequences Many thanks Lazarus

You have to add that tweak yourself. Next time you boot up and get that message, write down what it tells you to add to the win.ini file. Then after you finish booting up, add that in the appropriate section of the win.ini. I don't remember what the appropriate setting should be offhand........I haven't actually been using 98 for a while so haven't had to do that. You can check a good search engine on the web for "minsps tweak" and you'll likely find something. Or maybe someone else that knows the appropriate settings will reply to your post.

Here is the answer in System.ini in the [386Enh] section (if you do not have it add it) add this line MinSPs=6 Windows uses 4K for each MinSPs so they add up start with MinSPs=4 and increase by 2 till the error goes away.
