I followed the steps described for How
do I disable the warning message when I view the Windows folder?:
and it didnt work. Im using Windows 98SE, IE 6.0.
So ... umm ... is there a real fix to that problem ... because it is an annoyance.
Thanks =O)

After reading some of the other postings I figured out the FINAL fix... the one that
will surely work ... =O)
I posted this same message on the posting that gave me this idea.... ok here it
goes ....
---------------------------------------
Well ... I followed the instructions and it did get rid of the "Show Files" nag.
BUT... it also disabled the file preview effect.
(mouse over bmp, gif, jpg, a small display shows)
So what I did instead was: I moved the Folder.htt file from C:\Windows to a floppy
disk (just in case I didnt like the results of my little experiment ::grin::)
Then I Copied the Folder.htt file from the C:\Windows\Web folder and pasted it to
C:\Windows
tadaaa !!!!! =O)
PS: Since It worked fine I also pasted it to the C:\Windows\System folder. If for
some ungodly reason I need to set it back to normal I have the original Folder.htt
in a floppy disk.
And I believe you cant put that Folder.htt anywhere on your hard drive cause then
that folder you put it in will give you the "Show Files" nag.
(Not %100 sure, but wasnt interested in testing it.. lol)

I've tried a few of the tricks here, but the one way that works for me is uncheck
'the view as webpage' option, in View - then both Windows and System open without
the warning..

delete the file "c:\windows\desktop.ini" - this holds config info for "save windows
settings" which is an option needed to be selected (by me anyway) in that "folder
options" dialog box. Good Luck.

Thank you! Your idea worked like a charm. It entirely works better than the previous
suggestions had.
