I have a question about Customize the Start Menu Button:

The method recommended by the annoyances group is somehow not working for me. Can you suggest how to rename the start button

2 ways 1. You have to find out were the start menu value is located in the Registry and change the value. 2. If your lazy or unexperienced with the registry do an search un the program WinHacker, that program can change the start button in whatever you like, and the name of your trash bin and other things.

Trdiablo - it's got nothing to do with the registry. You have to hack explorer.exe

Or there's a free app called tclock which will do it for you. It replaces the text with a little bitmap file.

Go to: http://www.tectimes.com/dls/ficha.asp?codprog=2909 And get Start Button Editor 2.5. My start button now says Big Al.

I got this to work. I used Barts PE http://www.nu2.nu with the xvi32 hex editor for explorer.exe And I had a little bit of trouble with the image, but thanks to this post I was able to use axialis to edit user32.dll (not user.exe) to get it to work. FYI- This was for a windows 2000 pro system. I hope that helps someone. ~Drivers
