Shutting The Computer Completely Off

My computer used to not shut completely off after shutting down but would just show
the "Safe To Shut Off" message. The hard drive failed so the administrator had to
reinstall Win98. Now it DOES shut the computer all the way off. I would rather
it did not do this because I turn a master switch off at the end off the day & on
in the morning. Is there a way I can have it back where I get the "Safe" message
without it turning the computer completely off?
Thanks,
Lyndell

Did it occur to you to ask the administrator how to do that? Or were you hoping
to change this without alerting your admin (not a good plan) because you know he/she
won't like you messing around!? If this is a PC in the workplace (as compared to
one you actually own) I highly recommend talking to your admin instead of looking
for help elsewhere, you might risk annoying him if he prefers the PC set the way
it is. Besides....what is the difference? You can still hit the "master" switch
(I hope you mean on a power bar and NOT the switch on the back of the power supply...that's
a no-brainer and NOT the recommended way to shut a PC down) after the PC powers down
so there's really no difference.

While your concerns about going behind your administrators back are valid, you offered
little help about correcting this problem. I would answer it myself if I knew the
answer, however, I want to know how to have the system shut down completely. Marty
