Question about 'Adjust Your Printer Timeout'

I have a question about Adjust
Your Printer Timeout:
To clarify, you must right-click on the printer in question under on the printers
page in the control panel, and select properties. There you will find the Details
tab. BUT---My machine is "greyed" out where one would enter the new time in seconds,
and I cannot change the default value (which is 4 seconds on my machine). Any way
around this?

If correct printer port and printer are shown in the
boxes provided then the time out box should not be grayed out.

I have the same problem-the fields are greyed out, but my printer (HP 952c) is connected
via USB. Maybe this is a reason why it doesn't always print on command?
