Question about 'Dealing with Bad Memory (RAM)'

I have a Toshiba Satellite 2535cds laptop, the machine was sent to a repair center and I was informed that the memory upgrade module (64meg) was damaged or defective after nearly 3 years of flawless service. The defective/damaged module was the cause for the inability of the machine to boot. The board was replaced per repair center, I bought new memory as recommemnded by Toshiba (Kingston), the machine will not boot consistently and when it does, the dev.mgr only recognizes 16 megs. I have also bought 128 meg module which none is recognized, but machine will boot everytime. Also the bios recognizes correct amt of ram when either 64 or 128 meg module is in place. Any one have any ideas?..Toby

so they replaced the motherboard? crucial says that the toshiba satellite 2535cds can only handle 160mb of ram, of which 32mb is non-removable. i'd be tempted to say that you have more faulty ram or a bad motherboard.
