Question about 'How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?'

I have a question about How do I make the background of desktop icon text transparent?:

Oops, sorry for that last blank message, I trried preview and it didn't work. What I'd posted was that Disappear only works once each session. Each time I start up the computer again I have to use Disappear if I want the background transparent. Anyone else have this problem? Thanks!

If you are making your own Icon you have to use a program that makes the what you
don't want to see transparent...... I had a program at one time lost track of it.......
then you will not have to run a second party software........

I make all my own icons.. Using Microsft Paint!! Saved in BMP Format. Goto - Display Properties/Effects. Make the parts you want to be transparent Black. This works for me.

Go to the following web site and see if their "transparent" program isn't what you're looking for.

None of the apps that do this are sticky - they all have to be run each time you start up.

Just put a shortcut to whichever you choose in your menu startup group.

Hmm, interesting. Too much trouble for me, though, to bother each time. Oh well, no big deal, it was fun while it lasted. :) Thanks, guys.

Why too much trouble?

Find executable - 30 seconds
Create a shortcut - 2 seconds
Place Shortcut in c:\windows\start menu\programs\startup - 20 seconds

There - it's done, and you'll never have to do it again.

Thanks again -- maybe I'll do that just for fun. What I meant was I don't really care that enough that the backgrounds be transparent to actually click on something each time to make them so, and to have another shortcut cluttering my desktop or start menu .... I'm a clean freak, I like to see a nearly nekkid desktop. But I do like to learn how to do things, so now I'll just have to experiment with this anyway, even if I only end up using it once. :)

i was seaching for a solution to the same thing and came across this forum

this person was asking about the icon 'TEXT', not the icon itself

seems no-one has the answer - maybe it was a windows oversight

HERE IS THE ANSWER: Right-click on the desktop, choose "Arrange Icons by", go to "Lock Web Items on Desktop", un-check that.
