I have WIN 98 (computer "A") and WIN XP (server computer "B") connected in network and I can't see WIN XP computer over TCP/IP from WIN 98 computer. But, from WIN XP i have NO problem with seeing WIN 98 (including mapping network discs and tranfsferin data to WIN 98 machine). So, WHAT TO DO TO WIN 98 COMP TO SEE WIN XP COMPUTER ???? THX

Windows 98 uses the netbui protocal for lan communications. Windows xp home does not have this protocal installed by default. you need to grab your xp cd and browse the folders. The Netboui files are on there. You then need to copy them to your computer, and then go to network for the connection and install the new protocal. All the details are explained in microsofts knowledge base.

Had the very same problem, Zonealarm was blocking access from my internal network. Added the IP address of the 98 machine to the trusted zone in zone alarm and hey presto! Robb

We are having the same problem. We can see 98 on the xp computer but not the other. Is there any point in continuing to try to make it work, or should we just assume that it isn't meant to be? It is so complicated. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
