this can happen if c:\windows\system\vmm32.vxd or c:\windows\wininit.exe is missing
or corrupted.
try replacing wininit.exe in dos ... if that doesn't work, you'll almost certainly
need to reinstall windows to rebuild vmm32.vxd

Also check if it's the video i had this problem too as soon as it hit the video it
snaps off or hangs
check drivers
see if it can go into safe mode
it could even be a bad NIC card
