Question about 'Things that slow down system bootup'

I have a question about Things that slow down system bootup:

Hi, I installed a second network card to link up pc's at home to share a cable modem. The bootup has gone from about 45 seconds, to 3-1/2 minutes. If I remove the card, bootup goes back to 45 seconds. What gives?

When I installed my second NIC (D-Link) and got it working with another computer my boot time went up an annoying 20 or 30 seconds which I'm used to now. However that's not any 3 minutes.

I use a twisted pair cable (no hub) for the connection and in Network only TCP/IP. I think I had NET-BUI installed but found I didn't need it.

I don't know if any of this helps, but it seems to me your result is excessive.

The new network card is "by default" trying to get a DHCP address. It is not able to obtain one so it will hang until it times out until windows gives it an Automatically assigned address in thw 168.x.x.x range. If TCPIP is not required ON THIS CARD, just remove the TCPIP binding to that card. Or assign it a proper TCPIP address in your range.
