I don't know what you mean by the startup screen or the systems configurations screen,
they're a bit vague as far as computing terms go...
My guess would be that you are talking about the data about disk drives, etc. as
that is the only thing that I can think of that could be described as 'systems configuration'.
This is produced by your BIOS (a program held on a chip on your motherboard), and
there is probably nothing you can do to remove it.

I would think 99% of Windows users would know what the
startup screen is, because that's what Microsoft itself calls it.I'm afraid you've
got me on the system configuration screen though, but it's certainly not what Michael
thinks, because the BIOS information comes way before the Startup screen. Can you
give us more detaisl as to what's on the system configuration screen?

the windows 98 startup menu, perhaps? (safe mode, command prompt only, etc.)
if that's it, hit start -> run, type in msconfig and hit enter. on the general
page, hit the advanced button and uncheck the startup menu option.
