Hi
Can't you delete the one you don't have?
Or just "inactivate in this profile" in Device manager?

Hi
I haven't read whether or not your problem (our problem) is solved. Are you using
an ATI video card as I am?

To Disable Hardware That You Don't Want:
Right-click on My Computer and go to Properties. Go to the Device Manager tab, and
click on the "+" to expand it. Locate the monitor you don't want and click on it,
to highlight it, and click the Properties button. Go to the General tab and "check"
the box, "Disable in this hardware profile".
(This is one way to skin a cat.)

simply disabling the monitor does not keep it from being re-detected ar next boot
up. I have a Nvidia 64mb GeForce4 440 MMX card, Win98, plug n play monitor. Color
is limited to True color 32 bit and looks horrible, everything worked last week,
now it's detecting two monitors. removing them from the profile doesn't work any
better than disabling it. uninstalled and re-installed everything. help!

Windows98 detects 2 monitors, my monitor and a second "unknown". I delete the unknown
from the Device manager but it detects it again the next time i boot up. I have NVIDIA
GeForce 2MX 400. Has anybody found any solution? Please help me.

The answer can be found here. It works. You will have to edit your registry (Start,
Run, Regedit). Be sure to export your current registry as a backup first, just in
case. Then in Regedit, Edit, Find, Unknown Monitor. You will see two monitors - the
first one is probably your real monitor, and the second is the phantom. Delete that
monitor. See this URL for more info.

same thing with my Asus FX5200. I think it is
a result of dual-head support - check if there are 2 VGA connectors on the back
of the card. Maybe the drivers attempt to detect a monitor thru the DVI port as
well.
that's my theory.
