Dell TrueMobile 1150 wireless card

Hi,
Dell can't fix this problem (imagine that) infact they denied this card even existed
when my dear mother called tech support to get it fixed.

My mother has a Dell 1150 true mobile wireless card, and a pci pcmcia card reader
in her XPST700. When 98se boots, it doesn't recognize the wireless card until it
is removed and reinsterted into the card reader. I feel that this is a timing issue.
I understand that microsquish has an update on their site but I can't find it.

Anyone else know anything about this?
thanks

Michael

Michael: a CD came with the Dell card. Use it to do the classic device routines; 1. the 'overlay' install, and if that doesn't work; 2. the uninstall (see Device Manager) followed by a fresh install.

I will try the overlay idea, but i know that the uninstall idea won't work as the card has been installed and re-installed several times nows.

Michael: found this little gem on the Help files, may or may not be helpful; If you are using third-party wireless networking software, clear the Use Windows to configure my wireless network settings check box. If you are unable to connect to an existing wireless network and the name of the network that you want to connect to appears under the Preferred networks list, click the preferred network name, and then click Properties. In Wireless Network Properties, review the settings to ensure that they are correct. If you are unsure whether the settings are correct, contact your network administrator or the wireless network adapter manufacturer. If the Preferred networks list includes both access point (infrastructure) and computer-to-computer (ad hoc) networks, you cannot move a computer-to-computer network to a position in the list that is higher than the position of an access point network. To provide enhanced security for 802.11 wireless networks and for wired Ethernet networks, IEEE 802.1x authentication is enabled by default. For more information about how to set up 802.1x authentication, see Related Topics.

The card works just fine, once you remove and re-insert it from the pci pcmcia slot
in the back of the computer. The problem I am having is that when the system boots,
it doesn't see the card. I found out that Microsoft has an updated pcmcia.inf file,
but you have to call them to get it. Which i feel is utter rubbish.

i'm new to this type of thing so i'm sorry if i'm doing it wrong. i have a truemobile 1150 internell wireless card and every time i try to get on my wireless network by refreshing my settings the access point name comes up them goes away and i can't get on the internet. my card seems to be talking to the roughter but no internet. i can do the exact same settings on my other laptop and the access point name stays and i have no problem with getting online. i'm lost.
