Did you put any partitions on the drive and format them? Check out the sections on

make boot disk,put fdisk and format on disk,boot system from boot disk,run fdisk,create
ext dos,then logical drive[d:]in extended dos,reboot machine when finished,format
d:[a:format d:/u]
