Question about 'Identifying the programs that Windows runs at boot'

I have a question about Identifying the programs that Windows runs at boot:

Is it possible that there are more places where programs are started at boot? If I start windows98 and the desktop comes up there allways seems to be done a lot of work in the background (much more than IŽam used to - about 2 Minutes!) and then the explorer opens at C:\WINDOWS although there is no program left in the startfiles or registry-places you listed in your message. I also checked for viruses and closed the window before shutting down. (The changes at the desktop were saved too) I canŽt imagine what the reasons are... Any ideas?

Also check in C:\Windows\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp.

>Any ideas? There is a freeware utility called adaware 5.62. Search for lavasoft web site and download. This utility will tell you all TSR's loading into memory and also any key loggers that are running (virtually) on your machine like Gator and Webhancer it will also remove them. I was suprised after removing Gator it was still running in the background (invading my privacy). Adaware is easy to use and it works. I noticed a difference in my performance on the next reboot.

Download Startup Cop. It will help you identify and remove problems like this.
