Question about 'How do I stop a program from running whenever I start Windows?'

I have a question about How do I stop a program from running whenever I start Windows?:

Perhaps it's been answered before, but here goes (and be gentle, I've barely started working with the Registry!) I use Telnet to access one of my email accounts and had it so that it would startup on booting up... but would like to get rid of that start up feature while still using the app. I've already tried all the tips listed in the article and it STILL does it - the 'auto Telnet start up' not listed anywhere in the load or run lines or Registry. What can I do to stop it?! Where the heck is it hidden! Help!

Have you tried your Startup folder? Or have you looked in win.ini for 'run=' or 'load=' lines?

>check c:\windows\all users\start menu\programs\startup\ thanks for all the suggestions, but nothing works. I actually deleted the shortcut for the startup folder under the Start Menu... think that has something to do with it?
