Getting rid of (not replacing) the Windows 98 shutdown screen.

O.K., I was able to get rid of the startup logo screen by adding LOGO=0 to C:\MSDOS.SYS. Great. But how do I now get rid of the "Please wait while Windows is shutting down" screen. Please note that I do NOT want to create my own creative screen... I want it to GO AWAY ALTOGETHER (so I can see the underlying activity on the monitor as I can now see where the startup logo screen used to be). I'm running windows 98. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

delete c:\windows\logow.sys and c:\windows\logos.sys.

you might be disappointed, though - it doesn't show any "underlying activity".

I did it and... IT WORKED! THANKS! I hadn't done that in the past because of warnings such as the following: "Note: If you delete LOGOW.SYS and LOGOS.SYS altogether, Windows will exit to DOS instead of shutting down". But I went ahead and deleted the files and my computer shuts down just the same as always (minus the stupid blue-sky shutdown screen).

it's usually a pretty harmless thing to do, which is why i recommended it. it depends on the windows install, really - i've known some systems to freeze instead of shutting down when logos.sys is deleted. in those few cases, creating a new empty text file by the name of logos.sys usually fixes the problem.
