I think I have too many programs that are running when I turn on my computer. I have tried to run scandisk and defrag and it keeps restarting because I have too many programs running. What should I do?

This site lists many startup programs and tells if they are needed or not: http://www.3feetunder.com/krick/startlist.htm

Jennifer: press the Ctrl key on bootup to enter Safe Mode, then run ScanDisk and Defrag.
