Question about 'What to do about a Page-fault, Illegal operation, or Fatal exception Error'

I have a question regarding a fatal exception message. I am running windows 98 with Office 2000. The problem seems to be that I shut down the computer without the floppy in the a:drive, where I had opened a file from the disk. now when I start or restart my computer I get a blue screen that tells me I should not have removed the volume with files on it. Next time...etc., press any button...when I do I get another blue screen that tells me the file system mounted on the volume had data that needed to be flushed. Some data was lost...Press any button. when I do I get a third blue screen that tells me a fatal exception OE has occurred press ctr-alt-delete to restart. When I try this it often takes 30-60 minutes of repeatedly going through this process to get my computer started and out of the blue screens. I cannot remember which disk I was using...Any suggestions?

If its any comfort to you John, I am having the same problem except that although, occasionally I get into a loop, this doesn't happen very often. A friend of mine has tried to overcome the problem for me but, as yet, has not come up with an answer. If I manage to sort it out I will let you know.

Has this ever been resolved? My computer (Win98SE) is now doing this?
