'Turn Off the CD-ROM Autorun'

I checked this article out coz my cd-rom autorun wasn't working for data cds, so
i downloaded and installed TweakUI, and now it works perfectly. I highly reccommend
it for anyone having problems with certain bits of hardware.

Could you explain how downloading TweakUI now enables data cds to run automatically?

i don't remember if it was present in the older builds, but the newer builds of tweakui
have options to enable or disable autorun based on the content of the disc (audio
or data).

It's under the Paranoia tab. You can uncheck in two places.... Play audio CD's automatically
and play data CD's automatically.

How does that differ from the Auto Insert Notification? You still have to have AIN
enabled, right? Is that feature set up so that you don't have to have an "Autorun.inf"
present on the cd.

also sent via email:
honestly, i'm not sure how the two work together. tweakui can enable
or disable auto insert notification based on the content of the cd (audio or data),
as i stated before. disabling auto insert notification via the device manager disables
it for both types (microsoft "dumbing" things down, probably), and i imagine that
tweakui just takes advantage of the fact that it can be enabled or disabled based
on content.

I guess I still fail to see how TweakUI can cause Data cds to run automatically without
an Autorun.exe pointed to by an AutoRun.inf file in the root of the CD. The reason
I say this is because I have TweakUI enabled for both under the Paranoia tab, and
I never could get Data cds to open automatically (I have the Auto insert notification
enabled also) until I discovered how to place an Autorun.exe with an Autorun.inf
file in them. The way I read the post was, after TweakUI was downloaded and set to
autorun data cds, they would automatically run. That just don't happen for me on
my computer. Now, I could see that enabling and disabling them in TweakUI
can turn the Auto insert notification on and off, but as I said, I still can't see
how it will make Data cds run. Am I really that far offbase? After studying your
response a little more, I tend to think that we are on the same page with this. The
TweakUI part only enables and disables the Auto insert notification, just separately
for audio and data cds. If scooby got it to work by installing TweakUI, I take it
that either his Auto insert notification was turned off or unavailable to start with.
Am I right? Thanks for responding. Link
