Question about 'Make one of those Keen DOS Startup Menus'

I have a question about Make one of those Keen DOS Startup Menus:

The instructions in the article work fine, but presuppose that the alternative boot environments will all run with the io.sys in the root directory, e.g. if I'd like to have an alternative environment that is strictly DOS 6.22, this "keen DOS startup menu" doesn't help and I get messages such as "command.com invalid" or "invalid dos version" out of Windows 95's io.sys. Haven't tried this with Linux or other operating systems, but am guessing the same thing would happen.

I've worked around this shortcoming by booting from a floppy if I want to go into a true DOS 6.22 environment. If anybody has come up with a better solution, I'd like to hear from you!
