Oh, Man ! I am going crazy trying to handle this thing, too. I am running WIn XP
Pro and the full Office XP Pro - both fully up to date, service pack-wise. I have
the AcbControl reg key installed as per the KB article, as well
I installed IBM ViaVoice X and it works PERFECTLY except in Outlook 2002, where it
insists on turning on the clipboard - and I can't even tell what aspect of the dication
process is doing it (i.e. the dictation or the correction) To make it even worse,
it doesn't turn on the clipboard in Word. Only in Outlook!
There IS an explanation of the clipboard options in the help file - i.e. what does
do not show automatically do, etc - but it is not too clear and besides, none of
them affect ViaVoice turning the damn thing on each time.
So, I am combing the web looking for how to disable the thing, entirely. If you
- or anyone else - comes across it, please let me know.

Open an office application - like word or excel say... Go to tools, options, then
choose the edit tab - untick "Show Paste Options" and "Show Insert Options". That
should do it!

None of these suggestios have fixed my problem with VV v10 and XP. Any luck on
resolving this? I'm about to send ViaVoice back because of this issue and its bugginess
in general.
I also have a strange bug with Outlook opening up new contacts at random. Happens
after about 10 minutes of usage.

I have been plagued by this problem for months and have come across a solution that
enables you to dictate into Outlook 2002 with ViaVoice without the clipboard popping
up. If you set the message format to Plain Text the clipboard no longer "pops". You
can set all new messages to be Plain Text. If the clipboard does pop up (it seems
to if you use the corretion window) then the kill it three times method works. Hope
this helps.

The "AcbControl" value definitely works. Make certain you meet all of these requirements:
1. It MUST be created in the appropriate key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\General
2. It MUST be a DWORD value.
3. It MIGHT be case sensitive, so make certain it is typed exactly AcbControl
Hope this helps!

Your office may be running as the local machine instead of as the local user. Try
putting the AcbControl DWORD in this registry setting;
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Common\General
Notice this goes to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE not HKEY_LOCAL_USER.
Give that a try and see if it works for you. It worked for me. Finally!

This still doesn't work for Outlook and is unnecessary as you can turn off the clipboard
in these tools - Outlook is the F____ problem.

That didn't solve the problem.
The clip board opens when I press Ctrl+C twice fastly (I usually do it accidentally).
I'm using Office 2002 (I use folder 10 instead of 9 under Office).

Hi
I am grappling with the same issue. I am not able to disable the stupid windows clipboard
messages when running my excel macros. I have automated almost every feature but
still cannot execute it automatically due to the "Do you wanna copy info to clipboard
message".....
Please help...The AcbControl thing did not work and neither did the untick options
in tools>options>edit......
If you have the solution then please share....

I don't know about earlier versions, but in Office 2003 you can choose "Options"
from the bottom of the clipboard tab when it appears, and untick "Show automatically"
(the first option).

This is the smartest thing you could do: Dispose of Microsoft Office and install
OpenOffice.org
You'll save money and get better software.
I use it in on my Vista, XP and Linux machines and love it.
Can't see why people still pay hundreds of dollars for this.

Thanks Man, the thing has been driving me mad and before disabling the registry key
for it I saw your solution which is simpler and effective. Thanks.
P.S. after disabling those options deselect the "Show Cliipboard Automatically" option
and close all office apps to have it save the change. (on office 2003)
