Question about 'Customize Drive Icons'

I have a question about Customize Drive Icons:

In the topic it says to "Save the file as AUTORUN.INF in the root directory of the hard disk you wish to change." Ok I got it to work for my C drive but where do i save it (Wheres the root directory?) for my 3 1/2 Floopy, my Zip Drive (its external), CD ROM drive, and CD-RW Drive (its external) ? Im basicly mentaly challenged on stuff like this because I don't really mess around with this type of stuff so some instructions where to save them would be helpful. Thanx.

Root directory is your main drive. usually C:\ that's it. No folder just in C:\.

The simple AUTORUN.INF file given in these directions will work for C:\, but it will take more than this for floppy drives and other removables. They should have given further instructions for common users such as ourselves, instead of implying that it will work for all drives. With the instructions given, I would not be able to go any further than you did.

I got my C: Drive icon changed but acording to this topic it says "for hard disks, floppy disks, and removables" where do you put the AUTORUN.INF at for those (floppy disks, and removables) like on my PC I have: 3 1/2 Floopy (A:), HP_pavilion (C:), Zip 100 (D:), (E:) (my CD Drive), and (M:) (my CD-Writer) where do I put the file for these other drives (not C:)? Because if I name it AUTORUN.INF and place it in C: it'll just overide the other one and just change my C: Drive again. If you put all of them in the C: Drive how do you stop it from overiding? Or do you somehow put them all on one AUTORUN.INF File? I would really like to change my 2 CD drives because I get them confused alot and the other 2 (Floopy and Zip) figured I can just change them while im at it.

When Windows starts to read a drive, one thing that it looks for is "autorun.inf"
in the root dir (that means it has to be on the disk/floppy/zip/cd/etc and at the
highest level) after windows has found this file it will change the icon, so for
removable media you need to F5 every time you change the disk. This happens for cds
by its self if you have autorun enabled. You can also specify a program to run when
the cd/floppy/zip/etc is read by adding.

autorun=programdir.exe pram

If you do, do this then make sure the path is drive independnet.

you must have the file on each drive or change the registry or the default icon or .dll file
