What were you doing, or where were you on the internet when the problem started?

I had this problem for a long long time as well, but don't know how to fix it. Josh, did you finally fix it already?

Hi, i had the same problem with my computer, and i finally figured it out today. first go to control panel, then systems, the click on the device manager tab, then remove your monitor and video card, then it will say that you need to restart for these changes, then restart and it will say that you have new hardware, let it set them up, and i think it will ask you to restart once again, when you do restart your computer should return to its normal state. ok thats it jerms

If you are going to remove your monitor and videocard, be sure to start up in safe mode!

Remember to start in safemode (Press F8 when you see "Starting Windows") and select "Safe mode" If you don't, you run the risk of your display not updating, then you are forced to reboot your machine without shutting down, thus possibly not saving the changes you just made.

I just wrote a long ass comment and it erased it. So here's a short concise version,
email me if u need more info, k?
To return to your old settings, all you need to do is a SYSTEM RESTORE (to my knowledge,
i.e. i tried it, and it worked for me). Below are the instructions on how to do it.

By the way, make sure you know a day when your comp wasnt messed up so you can select
that day
for your computer to restore your settings to.

Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and
then click System Restore.
Follow the instructions on your screen.

Lastly, you can always undo the system restore, so its worth a shot. Good luck everyone!
PS TNRaven was definitely rite. Im pretty sure that my comp got messed up bc i didnt
let it restart in safe mode and chose normal, so look out for that.

Mine did the same thing. I fixed everything, but I'm still unable to get my mouse back. I've tried removing it and rebooting it, and I know it still works in safe mode. I can't get the computer to set back to an earlier date either.
