...Does anyone know of a way to disable the automatic starting of MSN Mess. everytime you go to the Hotmail inbox in IE 5.5? It can really hog up the 'ole memory resources when this happens. Thanks!

Start, Run, type in: msconfig, ok. You get a box, click Startup, uncheck msmsgs, reboot....Julie.

I had this same problem with MSN messenger. Every time I would unistall it and open hotmail it would lag while it re-installed the program. When I removed Outlook Express and started using another email program it cured the problem. I think the whole mess started after trying and removing MSN Explorer.

This link has instructions on removing MSN Messenger from OE, although I don't think
if it will resolve the problem with Hotmail, if I recall correctly. This will unintegrate
the dumb thing from OE though. :)

I have never used Outlook, too many chances for worms & virii to hijack it (don't keep an address book either; just hit reply :-) ), as one klesmer worm attempted to do yesterday. No damage caused..... I'll see if I can find that link in regedit and detach it from OE, as someone else suggested. Thanks! :-)

I must reluctanly admit, even with the registry modification, MSGR still rears its ugly little unlogged-in head whenever I open my Hotmail. Grrrr!
