Question about 'Connect to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network'

I have a question about Connect
to a Windows XP or 2000 system with a Windows 95, 98, or Me system over a Network:
I have 2 computers configured in a network.
The network does the job very wel cofigured as :
Computer 1
OS = Windows 98 Se
With a router-gatewy DLINK-701
software for the DLINK insalled on this computer.
Computer 2
OS = Windows XP Home edition
and a hub of course
With this configuration
1- internet sharing is O.K = 1 IPadress (same)
2- Network between the 2 computers is O.K.
But... as I would like to test some programs via internet connection I am paying
now my provider for 2 IPadresses
I changed my configuration as :
Computer 1
OS = Windows 98 Se
DLINK-701 hardware and software removed
Computer 2
OS = Windows XP Home edition
and a hub
With these configuration=
1- internet connection is OK on both computers with a different IPadress.
2- netwerk dont work at all.
My provider told me to configure the LAN network with NetBeui or IPX/SPX.
But : How do I configure WINXP in NetBeui or IPX/SPX ???
I cannot find these protocols in WINXP
My goal is to have the 2 computers in a network and to access the internet from each
computer with a different IPadress.
with or without the router-gateway DLINK-701.
somebody can help ?
Thanks for the answer
André

Andre: MS has removed support for the NetBEUI protocol from XP.
it is best if all of your computers have the exact same list of network protocols;
this means that a mixed 98/XP network should have the NetBEUI protocol removed from
the 98 computers.
you can rely on TCP/IP for your network, but if you wish, add the NWLink IPX/SPX
protocol to all of your computers by viewing the network properties on each computer;
click Add or Install, select Protocols, select NWLink IPX/SPX.
your configuration will have file sharing blocked by design by the XP computer for
security reasons;
if you know that your network internet connections have adequate firewall protection;
you can try to disable the ICF in XP.
it is essential that you have a firewall of some type in place.
for a DSL connection with multiple IP addresses and a router; configure packet filtering
in your router.
block TCP/UDP ports 137-139 and 445.
your ISP will help you do this.
for a cable connection with multiple IP addresses and no hardware firewall device
in place; you will be unable to share files on your LAN.
