problem with computer hanging

I am getting a message on my computer that says notification....wnd for RNAdmin and my computer will not even go into shut down until I hit control alt, delete. I have been having a problem with my system where it won't shut down. I have been trying all sorts of things that I have been told to do with it from the annoyances forum and nothing has worked. Now I am getting this message. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Debbi

I am having the same problem (Notification Wnd for RNAdmin) and did a search on it and came up with your thread. When I clicked on your one reply it sent me nowhere. This "nowhere page" was also listed in my search results. Where you able to solve your problem with this, and if so, HOW?? Thanks, Cindy

Hi Cindy,

The problem you're experiencing is caused by Real Player. You can open Add/Remove
Programs in 'Control Panel' and uninstall Real Player, or; Select START/RUN, type
MSCONFIG in the 'Open' box and press enter. Next click the 'Startup' tab and
look through the list for an entry similar to RNAdmin. Uncheck the selection
if found. Next click 'Apply' and reboot when prompted.

Thanks JmC for identifying RealPlayer as the culprit of the "Notification Wnd for RNAdmin" bug. I have found it in the SysConfig list. It is labeled TkBellExe. When I unchecked it the problems with it (and some others) disappeared. Thanks. Drew D

Thanks to everyone working on the "Notification Wnd for RNAdmin" problem. I went START / RUN then type MSCONFIG in the 'RUN' box. Goto the startup tab then uncheck the TKBellExe checkbox. I had to click OK rather than Apply and then immediately Restart the computer for changes to take effect. Problem solved! Thanks again.

Thank you, JmC, for the advice. I was having similar problems, and have been working with a Microsoft tech trying all kinds of things to solve my problem. It didn't work for me to just uncheck the file under msconfig, I had to completely uninstall RealPlayer. I had to manually delete some of the files, also, for the problems to go away, but after everything was cleaned up, my system works. My problems started mostly though, after the latest downloaded update to Windows. Anyone else have that? Thanks again

Many thanks for this suggestion from JmC. I was having the same problem plus I could not install from my CD Drive - just got hung up with a msqsrv32 and setup not responding. Using msconfig to take out the Real Payer references took care of both problems. Chuck

Thanks from my corner, too!!! I had this message,"Notification Wnd for RNAdmin". I had intermittent hanging, couldn't open folders to access files, and hanging on restart. I found this forum, uninstalled Real Player, and I am much happier now--everything works!!! THANKS!

Further to the tkbellexe saga, I have found that if you wish to keep RealAudio, then the following steps need to be followed otherwise just removing it from msconfig is not enough. Also if you look at CPU usage in System Monitor when tkbellexe is in action, it is 100% and I believe that this is the cause of the various errors and mishappenings! I accept no responsibility for the following steps, but they were found in one of the microsoft newsgroups and it has worked for me. You will need to do this in Safe Mode in order to release the files you need to remove. I'll assume you know how to do this. In Safe Mode, 1. Open Windows Explorer. Go to c:\program files\common files\real\update_OB. Look for eventsvc.exe. Rename this file eventsvc.old. You could probably even delete it if you like. Close Windows Explorer. 2. Go to Start\Run and type regedit. Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Current Version\Run. Look for the TKBell.exe entry and delete it. Close Registry Editor. Restart Windows. If you go back to Start\Run and type msconfig to run System Configuration Utility, you'll see that TKBell is no longer in the startup group. Good luck.

Re- wnd for rnadmin. If you run c:\windows\regedit.exe, push "CTRL + f " ,checkmark match whole WORD,type wnd then click to search, delete the hilighted line, push F3 then delete the next instance, repeat F3 ect... be sure not to delete anything that has wnd as part of a word its gotta be just "wnd" if unsure ask someone with Knowledge of the regestry.you could cause your pc to crash by deleting the wrong thing......

It may be caused by RealNetworks. if Real Player is installed, Try to uninstall it and reinstall again.

Yes - just removing it fom your startup wil help only until you use your RealPlayer again! Starting RP wil reregister TkBell in your startup and you'll be right back where you started. I solved this problem by re-installing the RealOne Player with the latest version available. I noticed a different .exe was registered which apparently causes no problems.
