My o/s is windows 98, i got sent to a porn page thru a pop up. Yes i use a stopper,
but this did'nt work now my default home page is http://www.freehqmovies.com/enter.html
i have used the reset web tab, i have deleted history and deleted all cookies (that
i could find).
I have run regedit and deted the default page which was as above. This did'nt work
is there another place the page sets itself to ? I have gone to all my reset tabs
through internet explorer, but the default comes back as the above. Also who do i
make complaints to about this web page that has set itself as my default.

Follow these instructions first then download and run Ad-Aware spyware removal program.
Compliments of Reghakr:
Do a search in the registry for a key named restrictions under the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer key and delete it. Then reboot your machine and add the key back and lock
your homepage as described below.
Or search for the word policies and check the values for the number 1. The number
1 USUALLY indicates a restriction is in effect.
To prevent further problems...Correct your home page to the one you prefer, then
immediately do the following:
******
LOCK HOMEPAGE:
Backup the registry and/or export the following keys:
go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\
Right-click on the Internet Explorer key, choose new>Key, name it Control Panel.
Right-click on the Control Panel, chose new>DWORD value, name it Homepage. Right-click
on Homepage, choose modify and type in the number 1.
This should lock your home page, so no other web site can change it.
Then navigate here and verify the homepage is correct:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main
look for the Start Page entry.
********
For all users of the computer, make the change to this key:
HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel
If you see a SearchBar entry under [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet
Explorer\Main], delete it.
More info.

Jim's response prompted to say.....I didn't give you a link to that hijacking site
for anything but info. They have a lot of various information that can be of help.
You could have had a web dialer installed. I don't know, because you didn't say whether
something was auto trying to connect to the internet without your intervention.
I wasn't sending you there to put in a complaint. I'm just trying to help you resolve
your problems. There are a lot of sites that hijack peoples homepages. Just wanted
to make that clear. They have a database full of those kind of sites. They can't
do anything about it really. That's not their job!
