May be a corrupt system file or registry entry. This can't hurt and may help any
other problems also.
- Select START\RUN, in the 'Open' box type SFC (System File Checker) and
press enter. Follow the prompts and have your Win98 CD handy.
- Reboot and press and hold the 'CTRL' key to enter the boot menu. Select the 'COMMAND
PROMPT ONLY' option and press enter.
- At the C:\> prompt type SCANREG /FIX and press enter. This can take up
to 10 minutes or so.
There are other software issues that can cause this problem, if these procedures
do not resolve it.
