Absurd large excel and powerpoint files

My computer is creating extremely large excel files (20Mb). It does have about 20.000 lines and a pivot table, but it still seems a bit too large for an excel file. Also I've been working on a powerpoint file that began getting too large, although I didn't add any more slides. It is now at 8.500Kb. Strange thing is that if I open it on another computer, and save it without making any changes, it shrinks to about 7.300Kb. The same thing happens to the excel file, shrinking it to about 17Mb. Does this have to do with configuration or is it a virus? Thanks for your attention!

It shouldn't be a virus as the virus would probably move with the file.

I'm not sure why the file size is different between two PC's, but Microsoft Office
files are notoriously bloated, so there is probably very little you can do about
the huge file size.

I have a program that does the same thing. The manual explains that any changes you make (modifying a graph, adjusting a page layout, deleting photos and text, etc.) are all actually retained in the file even if they are no longer used. To purge the file of all non-relevant data select SAVE AS and enter the same or a new filename. I think this could explain the behavior of your program too.

Michael, Jerry, Thanks for your messages. I tried Jerry's idea, but unfortunately it didn't work. If anyone else can be of some help, I would really apreciate it. Thanks again!
