Hi, I am connecting fine, but on my old PC(it was 98 also) there was a Icon of 2 computers showing the we were networked together...How can i get the Icon back...THats the only way for the guest computer to connect to the host PC..

How are they connected James? DCC or what? JmC

They are connected through a PCI Ethernet cards with a cable.....

James:   run the Network Setup Wizard on the 98 computer again, use the Network Setup 
disk created on the XP.

2. restart all the computers in this sequence only:
                1. XP computer acting as host,
                2, other XP computers,
                3. Win98 and other non-XP computers.

3, open Network Neighborhood on the 98 computer;
you should see all the network computers.
right-click each icon to display the shared resources.
