Can't get rid of Alexa Toolbar!

I ran AdAware and it found Alexa toolbar on my PC. I tried deleting in Ad-Aware.
I tried deleting the registries in CLSID, Explorer bar and Extensions. I even tried
messing with the System And User Dat files. The SOB keeps coming back after a few
days!! How do I get rid of it for good?? Thanks.

Leave the System and User.dat files alone! Is there an uninstall file for the toolbar,
or is it listed in Add-Remove programs?
Do you have the latest version of Ad-Aware or an old one?? Ad-Aware gets rid of it
with no problem. Even last yrs. version got rid of it.
Be sure to download the latest signature file too. If you have a version older than
5.83, uninstall it first. Get the full download, rather than the upgrade.

Take a look here also, for a possible solution. It's a different story, if the toolbar
is installed, as opposed to cookies and registry entries.

You may have to manually search through your registry entries to get rid of it.

in my post to that adware site??!
I'm sure there's info there too.

Carol,
Yes, I have the latest version of Ad-aware. I just posted on the other website but
no response yet. I seem to be having a unique problem. This bar will not go away
permanently. Thanks for your help.

Another poster, Rwagner, gave you a link to a removal for the toolbar! Did you try
that, or.......??
I had also posted a link to an adware (not Ad-Aware) site. You sometimes need to
do some digging yourself.

Hi Sean,
Alexa is one of the trickiest little devils you will find (been around forever).
When their tricks are discovered they just create a new one. I've experienced the
same problem lately and the only program that kicks it's butt in the Registry is
SpyBot.
Excluding a major Registry removal procedure try it. The damned thing even comes
with Quicktime!

It's a good thing you came to his
rescue! I thought that would be somewhere on that adware page, and.....
The link posted by someone else, doesn't look very helpful, either. I should have
checked first!
