Not unless you want to use DOS, want to boot from CD-Rom in Dos, if yr BIOS doesnt
support CDROM boot, or you want to play DOS games?

Windows doesn't need them - you might. What do you have
in them?

It was SUGGESTED I delete the CONFIG.SYS and AUTOEXEC.BAT files. Tried it and windows
booted right up A FEW TIMES. The question is...do I have to delete their entire page
somehow?

What do you mean - "their entire page". If you deleted the files named autoexec.bat
and config.sys, that should be it. What information is on this page you mention?

The only line in your autoexec.bat is a comment, so it's
not doing anything. You can delete that.Config.sys is installing DOS memory managers,
but I can't remember their exact purpose. Probably only useful when you boot to DOS.
Rename the file (config.old or something like that) and just let it sit there. Then
if needs be you can reclaim it.

I'm having a problem with partition magic. I'm trying to delete the partition (i
only have one in fat32 format as my hd isn't v big) But i get the error 993: Partition
contains open files. Use op. system check utility. . I then get error 58: Unable
to write boot sector. Virus protection software may be running.
I've tried doing a scandisk to fix the errors. But it still doesn't let me. Do i
need to delete config.sys and autoexec.bat. If so how do i do this in dos:
"del autoexec.bat" and "del config.sys" in the c directory?
Thanks

lookup ATTRIB symantics in DOS (jus type attrib /?)
then take off all attributes of the two files (shoud be like attrib -h -s c:\autoex~1.bat)
then del or deltree the two files...
