I have a question about Force Outlook XP to allow EXE file attachments:

Suddenly I receive the following warning, "OE has removed a dangerous attachment". This happens on messages from senders that are supposedly virus free> Any help will be appreciated. Irv

In OE 6 anyway, go to Tools>Options>Security. There's a box there that says something like "Don't allow attachments to to be opened or saved that may contain a virus." Make sure its UNchecked.

Tools - Options - Security
Uncheck "Do not allow attachments to be saved or opened that could potentialy be a virus".

But be warned - this disables checking for ALL attachments.
To solve that security hole, install some antivirus with incomming e-mail checking ability.

Whenever Outlook Express supposedly "removed access to" an "unsafe attachment", you can actually still get to the attachment files by pressing the "forward" button. You don't even have to send the forward, the attachments just becomes accessible as soon as the "forward" button has been pressed. A simple little tip for those of us to lazy to fiddle around with the registry, and those who don't really want to remove the security thing in outlook. =) (Also potentially something to watch out for when the attachment file really is a virus!)
