Try reducing clutter and other subjects on the start page of this sight......

Have you gone to msconfig via the run under the start menu? Type in msconfig and
click ok then choose the startup tab and uncheck what you don't want to run at startup.
Leave systray,and scanreg, and power profiles if you use any power managment.

Carol, thanks so much for posting this!! It helped me identify several startup services
that were safe to remove via msconfig, and best yet helped me identify the culprit
causing a major system slowdown for me, Norton Clean Sweep.
