How much Ram is in your computer? Also you could try running drwatson to pinpoint the error instead of all those numbers. Start-run-type in drwatson, it will put an icon on your taskbar, do what usally gives you that error and click Details.

Ray:  some data on this type of error that might help;

Rundll32 loads and runs 32-bit DLLs. If you pass the wrong type of DLL to Rundll
or Rundll32, it may fail to run without indicating any error messages.

the more common reasons for "Invalid Page Fault" messages are memory issues, such
as:

an improper attempt to use random access memory.

attempts to load data from virtual memory that it can not locate. Often occuring
when areas of the virtual memory become corrupted.

the virtual memory becomes unstable due to shortage of RAM.

the virtual memory becomes unstable due to shortage of hard drive space.

the virtual memory has been corrupted by a program.

the program is attempting to access data which is being modified by another program
which is running at the same time.

my read on your problem is that Win98 is not happy with your webcam software;
try for an update at the maker's web site.

let us know what worked for you...

I also had the problem "A fatal exception OE error has occurred at 017F:BFF9DFFF" but managed to fix it by testing my RAM chips on another computer. One of them was dodgey and as soon as I replaced it my computer started working again fine. Hope this helps

Umm, I know I'm just a tad late, but anyway... I have no clue how to test RAM chips or anything, lol, I don't even know what the heck you're talking about so for someone who knows jack shizzle about the actual build of their computer, what would you suggest for them to do to get rid of this problem?

a fatal exception has occurred in 017f:bff9dfff

I faced the same problem and this was causing me a lot of difficulty. I had to restart my computer 5 or 6 times every half hour because of this. I I finally managed to fix it by installing rambooster. By using this software we can set the minimum available ram in the computer. If the available ram goes below this the software optimises the ram and keeps the available ram above this level. After installing this software I haven't had any such occurence of this error.

Switch to Wondows Xp and never use windows 98 ever again. Windows 95 was first in a series to try for perfecting windows and im afraid windows 98 is only next, you have to jump forward right to where all the quality is, forget windows 98 and go right to windows xp pro or even sweeter in some ways Windows Xp Home ver. i can't stress enough how we talked about the faults in windows when I was in College studying OS systems. if you have a nice fast computer like compaq with 1.3 or faster, your system will scream with windows Xp, plus if anything goes wrong you can always go back to last good install, thats right you can actually go back to how your computer was working before it all went sour, thats the beauty of Windows Xp,Dont settle for less, you will need at least 64 megs of ram, other than that best of luck to yea Xp is the bomb, Merry Christmas to you and your's Missy out .......Xxxxxx:)

I bought an IBM Aptiva. My 1st "real" computer. It came installed with WIN98. I only had "problems" with WIN98 after I began internet access. Most likely from malicious code being download or a virus. After replacing the hard drive 3 years ago, I have never, ever had a crash (freeze yes, crash no) or have had to reinstall WIN98. After getting the latest downloads and patches from Microsoft.com, my box is running fine, save for a few minor problems. I day traded stocks for a living for 2 years. I have numerous trading platforms and software on my box. I can open about 10 windows w/o any serious problems or errors. IE 6.0 was a great help too. I've used XP and I do NOT like it, period. Your're mistaken about "go back" with WinXP. My version of WIN98 is OEM, and on it is a program called "configsafe". That program is the SAME as "go back" and preceded it, so just because XP has that prog, does not make it "better". Every O/S will have problems. There is no such thing as a "problem free" computer. It's just that some O/S are more stable than others. Many peeps, including me, are sorry to see WIN98 fade away, as the new platforms from MS are based from it. And XP is not the "bomb" have you used another O/S from Microsoft, such as Win2000, 2000 Pro, etc?
