My D drive is not working. It is listed in my computer and under the control panel saying that the device is working properly but if I try to run a disc...it come up saying that there is no disc in it. What happened and why is it doing that? Thank you

Here are some things you can try:

1) Go to device manager and uninstall the drivers. Reboot and reinstall the latest
drivers that you’ve downloaded from the manufactures web site.
2) The drive might be dirty: use a “cleaning” CD to clean the read head
for the laser.
3) If this problem is caused because the laser is out of alignment, you MIGHT be
able to realign it with a utility program from the manufactures web site. If not,
buy a new drive.

Thank you Ron for replying. There is only one problem I have, I do not know the manufactor of my drive. It is not listed in my computer. And my user guide has not name either. All I know is that it is a generic brand. I will have to go and buy a cleaner and try that. If it does not help.....I guess it is time to buy a new one. Thank you once again.

Could the disc be dirty?
