Please, can anyone help me solve this problem. For instance, when I click MyComputer it opens to a blamk screen. If I then right click, a close box comes up. When I close then the correct info comes up. It seems like one screen is on top of the active one. It's frustrating and I can't seem to be able to correct it. Thank you ahead for any help!

Ann Marie: just some ideas to try;

right-click icon, select "Open", does that work?

right-click, select "Properties", any help there?

TweakUI: installs as an additional applet in the control panel and has a repair icons
functions.

do a ScanDisk and make sure repair is checked.

run System File Checker (Run: sfc) and do some file repair work.

if you find yourself frequently using the same drive or program over and over, instead
of opening that folder every time; create a shortcut instead, as described in the
link below after your text.

let us know what worked for you...

I am very frustrated! Could it have something to do with having a partioned hard drive? I went in and did the disk cleanup, the scan disk and tried to do the defraging. It kept hanging up and I was getting the system is busy or unstable. I am no in the process of trying to defrag the system save drive part. It has not been defragged in over a year. The computer is my friends and he just doesn't understand the maintanence aspect of it. I set up the maintance wizard, also. Please help if you can! Thanks.......:(

Ann Marie:  anytime defrag gives you a hard time;

reboot using the Ctrl or F8 key during bootup and select Safe Mode to open Windows
and then run defrag while in Safe Mode.

if still resists, reply back for other options to getting defrag to finish.

let us know when you find the solution to "window over window"...
