I have a question about I get a 'File not found' message when I try to start any program:

Hi Thanks for the fix. However it did not work for control panel. Each time I click on a file in control panel, I am told that the Rundall32.exe file or related file cannot be found. I have tried a number of trouble shooting steps but have found no fix yet. Any suggestions? Peter N

hold down a shift key on your keyboard, insert your windows install disc, and let up on the shift key when the drive spins down. hit start -> run, type in sfc and hit enter. select the extract one file... option and enter c:\windows\rundll32.exe in the field below, then hit the start button in the sfc window. in the restore from field in the next window, enter x:\win98 (where x is the letter of the cd-rom drive). in the save in field, enter c:\windows and hit ok. accept the default backup location (create if necessary). when the file has been successfully extracted, try doing something that you couldn't do before. as always, let us know what happens.
