How do I remove windows 98 completely from DOS, without reformating?

I need to know how I can remove windows 98 from my hard drive without actualy reformating
it. Its my old hard drive from my old computer and I would like to use the files
on it on my new pc, but windows 98 on that machine lost some files so i cant transfer
from old to new. When I put it on my new machine, it just tried to load Windows
98 and failed. So if theres a way to do this please let me know.
Thanks

Win98 and DOS are not readily separated and I doubt that is the solution to whatever
you are trying to do. Do you have a new drive in the new PC or are you trying to
use the old drive in the new PC? Or are you trying to copy programs to the new PC
without having to reinstall? Clarify what it is you are trying to do and also what
is wrong with the old hard drive. Last question - do you have a Windows 98 CD?

I dont have the Windows 98 CD, it came pre installed when I bought the machine.
On my new computer, I have a Hard Drive, but its running low on space, and I wanted
to add the old computers hard drive onto my new computer, having two hard drives
and also access to my old files. But when I set it up on my new computer, with the
two hard drives, it would try to boot up windows 98. But there are corrupted files
and files missing on the 98 Machine that are disallowing it from sucessfuly booting.
So what I want to be able to do, is clear the operating system off of the old hard
drive completely but still have the information.
Thanks.

That makes more sense. First be sure the jumpers on the old drive are correctly
set - for slave if it is on same cable as new drive. You can put old drive on second
IDE cable and choose for it to be master or slave - depending on where the CD drive
is.
If old drive then works, you can use Windows Explorer (from new drive) to clean out
unwanted files on the old drive. If it doesn't work OL, come back with details

OK - notice the layout showed up in the follow on post to your message. In that
layout, the old hard drive should not be the boot drive. If he PC is booting using
the old hard drive, then there must be something wrong with software on the newer
drive, or the BIOS is set strangely.
To be sure newer drive is OK, disconnect old drive and boot. If that gets to Windows,
then try this. Make a boot floppy. Copy deltree.exe from C:\Windows\Command\ to
the floppy. Shut down and reconnect the old drive on second IDE cable. Boot from
the floppy. At the A: prompt, enter
deltree /y d:\windows
del d:\command.com
Shut down then boot without the floppy.
