To permanently remove WeatherBug from your system (as well as any additional

Please tell me how you uninstalled weatherbug! It is not in my "add-delete programs".
When the ad popped up I clicked no to the do you want to install weaterbug, then
it did it anyway. I hit ctrl alt delete after I could not stop the install any other
way. It left weatherbug cookies called my name @weatherbug, temp internet files and
something in user.dat. I don't know how to get that last out! It changed my IE6 browswer
to one with wordless, simpler buttons I don't want at all. it does not tell me the
weather or go in my system tray. I want my normal IE back. What do I do to get weatherbug
out of user.dat? Have you found a site or magazine or anyone with the solution ?
All I've found online is how great it is! Could it be a virus? What have you learned
since you wrote?

Joanne,
I noticed you are having a problem uninstalling your WeatherBug program.
BASIC WEATHERBUG UNINSTALL
To begin the WeatherBug uninstall process, please make sure the program is not running.
If there is a WeatherBug icon / temperature visible in the lower right corner of
your screen, right click on it and select "Exit WeatherBug".
To permanently remove the WeatherBug from your system after you have closed the program:
1. Click START (from lower left of computer screen)
2. Select SETTINGS and CONTROL PANEL
3. Double click ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS
4. Select "WeatherBug" from the list of applications
5. Click ADD/REMOVE and follow the instructions
This should perform a full uninstall of the WeatherBug application. We recommend
the basic uninstall to simply remove the program from your computer.
ADVANCED WEATHERBUG UNINSTALL
If you need to remove any remaining files from the registry, after completing the
above uninstall, continue to the following steps:
1. Click on the Windows START Button then select RUN.
2. In the RUN box, type "regedit" (without the quotes) then click OK. This will open
your Windows Registry Editor (following ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS, some of these keys will
already be removed -- if you do not find a key, please move on to the next step).
3. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named HKEY_CURRENT_USER
4. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named Software
5. Click on the folder, "AWS," to highlight it
6. Press the DELETE key on your keyboard and choose "YES" to delete this folder
7. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named Microsoft
8. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named Windows
9. Click on the plus sign next to the folder named CurrentVersion
10. Click on the folder named Run to highlight it (only the "Run" folder)
In the right-hand pane, look for a line stating "Weather." If you see it, please
click on it to highlight it then press the DELETE key on your keyboard and select
"YES."
To delete the AWS directory: Click Windows START, PROGRAMS, and WINDOWS EXPLORER.
If you accepted the default installation, please click on the "+" beside PROGRAM
FILES and then highlight the AWS folder. Press the DELETE key on your keyboard and
select YES or OK.
While still in Windows Explorer, click on the WINDOWS folder to highlight it. In
the right-hand pane, scroll all the way to the end and look for a file labeled "WeatherBug.ini."
Highlight the file and press the DELETE key on your keyboard and select YES or OK.
(On some versions of Windows, you may have to click on a link in the right-hand pane
of EXPLORER and select a link that will show all files in that folder).
Restart your computer and the uninstall is complete.

This standard procedure does not help. the weatherbug parasite is still running,
and it does not appear in the add/remove menu.
Is there no uninstall tool to the parasite?

You MUST make sure the program is not running- this is why it's not showing in the
add/remove programs. right click on the icon or temperature in your sys. tray and
click "Close" or "Exit WeatherBug" depending on what version you have. from there
you should have no problem going under add/remove to remove the program if you wish.
Otherwise, contact us at support@weatherbug.com we're here to help our customers....
Thanks, Jay

I am unable to reach anyone by telephone or by email at weatherbug. I have called
several times and ONLY get voice mail. Is this company a sleaze bag company or what?
I question why you can't get to a live person. I uninstalled successfully the weatherbug
program because the spam and popups was horrible. However, the SPAM continues.
I have even gotten an answer back that support would contact me in so many hours,
I got an email telling me I was off of the "solicitation" email..... HOWEVER, the
annoying emails continue. How do I and where do I register a complaint with legal
and federal authorities about this company being a royal pain and not responding?

Charlie-
this is Jay, I'm the customer support manager at WeatherBug. I'm attaching the instructions
to remove your email- I would have done it for you but was unable to view your email-
or you can email me directly at jay@weatherbug.com.
With almost 100,000 new customers signing up last week during Hurricane Isabel, I
know we have an amazing service and we have the lifesaving letters from customers
to prove it. However, if you choose not to use the program, you should not have
to go through any difficulties to stop receiving our emails- I'm sorry to hear that
you're having trouble. Please feel free to email me if the link below does not successfully
fix the problem.
The most common reason for failure when attempting to unsubscribe is the use of an
email address other than the address the email was sent to. Please ensure that you
are using the email address used to send the Weatherbug email to you.
You may unsubscribe from our website if you have your WeatherBug registration ID.
Please go to http://ww2.weatherbug.com/mailings/default.asp, enter your Registration
ID, click "Submit" and follow the directions. To find your Registration ID, left
click the blue box in the top left hand corner of the WeatherBug screen, and click
"About WeatherBug" and it will display your Registration ID number.

It doesn't work. Everytime I enter my email address, it resets to just the letter
u in the email address box. I've tried uninstalling through the control panel/add-remove
programs and it WON'T uninstall. I am sick of the spyware that weatherbug generates,
it's totally messed up my computer and I have three spyware programs going. This
is insane, this horrible stupid weatherbug.
