Question about 'Resolving Hardware Conflicts'

I have a question about Resolving Hardware Conflicts:

When my Fast Ethernet-Adapter is connected to my laptop USB port, the diskett files cannot be opened or I can´t save anything on the diskett. When the Adapter is not connected, the diskett files can be opened and I can save on the diskett. What should I do? Thank you.
