IE home page continually resets

My IE home page has become set to some dubious portal site. If I change it back to my usual preference (www.google.co.uk) it stays there until I reboot, at which point it reverts to the portal. I've tried looking through the startup routines to find anything that sets it, but nothing turned up. What next?

Look in the registry for the Run or Runonce sections and see if there are any 'odd'
programs that are run when the computer boots. Most things should be self explanatory
in their names. Delete items to see what happens. Save (write down) what they were
if you need to put them back again.

Run regedit from the start menu. [Edit] [Find] to search for items, most of which
will be in

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

Try SpyBot, it gets rid of most things like that, just make sure you update it first. If it doesn't work, download and run HighJackThis. You can post the results on their help/support forum or Here'sWhatToDelete. MrC

You were hijacked...just like I was and was cured using the Spybot application and an application called CWShreder. If I knew how to provide you a link, I would. I struggled with the hijacking and those two application worked for me. I was going to try HiJack This next, but my system was cured and so I never tried that one. All of the links and applications recommended in this strand of emails are good. Good luck.
