Question about 'How do I install, remove, or re-install one of the components that came with Windows?'

I have a question about How do I install, remove, or re-install one of the components that came with Windows?:

Whjen I click on Start/Control Panel/Add-Remove/Setup Tab I get a blank "component list". I'm guessing I have a missing file but can't find/figure out which one where this installed component list would be stored. I have an older back up that probably has this file on it that I would like to restore (if I knew it's name). I hate restoring the entire windows as it would change so many settings etc. Does anyone know the name of the file I am looking for? Thanks in advance!

Usually you can run the Win98 CD and it will give you the option of re-installing those files. One other option is to go to START RUN and type SFC. This will run the system file checker and may allow you to reload a damaged file. Sammy
