IE6/OE6/AOL instant messenger

I upgraded from IE4, didn't have IE5.5. Worked fine until my daughter installed
AOL instant messenger. From there I would only get the OE6 logo to come up. Could
not get into my e-mail. The logo froze and I would have to C/A/D and it showed Explorer
as the problem source. Put this problem on the forum and a nice person answered
my SOS by explaining how to backup to an earlier date in the registry. That worked
like a charm. Thinking the problem was solved, my daughter once again tried AOL
instant messenger and .....you guessed it, the same thing happened once again. Surely
there is a way to run all three programs?? I didn't really want to back up to IE4,
and I don't have IE5.5. I did search about 30-40 forum pages trying to find a similar
problem so I wouldn't have to bug anyone, but couldn't find anything except how IE6
is full of problems. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

AIM is AOL, and that about sums it up. They install a backdoor trojan and all sorts
of junk on systems. It's not only trojanware but a hijacker. Btw, you'll find www.freeaol.com
in your Trusted Sites zone, so you may want to cut/paste into Restricted zone or
nuke it. That gives them permission to download and install anything on your system,
without your knowledge.
